Crosby is a census designated place (CDP) in Harris County, Texas, United States of America. The population was 1,714 at 2000 census. June 1, 2005, a refinery plant exploded in Crosby that was owned by Louisiana Oil and Gas Company.

From the 2000 census was 1,714 people, 666 households and 464 families residing CDP. The population density was 292.8/km (758.2/mi). 743 housing units had an average density of 126.9/km (328.7/mi). The racial makeup is the CDP was 74.15% White, 12.72% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 10.79% from other races, and 1.17% in two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.38% of the population.

Was 666 households, of which 35.4% were under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 15.8% were female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 26.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.09.

If the CDP the population spread out in 28.2% under the age of 18, 10.1% 18-24, 29.1% 25-44, 19.8% from 45 to 64 and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, was 96.2 for men.

The average income for a household in the CDP was $ 35,508 and the median income for a family was $ 41,458. Males had an average income $ 37,244 versus $ 25,500 for females. If the per capita income for the CDP was $ 14,851. Approximately 9.2% of families and 13.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.7% of those under the age of 18 and 20.1% of those 65 or more.
